Where mind, body, & creativity meet

The Coastal Difference

At Coastal Counseling Associates, every clinician is dually trained as both a licensed therapist and an expressive arts therapist.

This means we recognize that healing doesn’t always happen through words alone. While traditional talk therapy is often an important part of the process, we also incorporate creativity, movement, mindfulness, play, and nervous-system-informed approaches to help clients access growth in ways that feel natural and meaningful.

No artistic experience is ever needed. We simply believe people deserve more than one path toward healing.

We provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy for children, teens, and adults throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

We recognize that healing looks different for everyone. That's why our clinicians draw from a variety of approaches, including talk therapy, expressive arts, play therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, somatic interventions, and other evidence-based modalities based on each client's unique needs and goals.

Our goal is to create a warm, supportive space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.

Healing is more than just talking—it's about connecting the mind, body, and nervous system.

At Coastal Counseling Associates, we provide compassionate, personalized therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our clinicians draw from a variety of approaches, including talk therapy, expressive arts, play therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic interventions to support each client's unique goals and needs.

We offer both in-person and virtual appointments and strive to create a warm, welcoming space where clients can feel safe to show up exactly as they are.

What does a typical session look like?

We know the phrase expressive arts can sound a little intimidating, but we promise—it's simply about offering more ways to express yourself, not performing or being "good" at art. ◡̈

Our clinicians meet you exactly where you are, creating a space that feels safe, welcoming, and supportive from the moment you walk in.

All sessions begin with conversation. We take time to check in, understand what's coming up for you or your child, and explore what feels most important that day.

From there, therapy is tailored to your unique needs and comfort level. Some sessions may focus entirely on talking, while others may incorporate creative or mind-body approaches to help deepen insight, build coping skills, and support emotional regulation.

Depending on your goals, this might include art, music, sand tray work, mindfulness, breathing exercises, gentle movement, play, or nature-based activities. There is never any pressure to participate in activities that don't feel right for you.

Every session looks a little different because every person is different. Our goal is simply to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered—using whatever tools feel most helpful along the way.
